Becky started working for Superdry at the Bullring store in the midlands in 2014 and she was an In Store Visual Merchandiser. Becky had just recently graduated from University with a degree in Fashion Design and this worked in her favour as she had both the experience and interest in fashion & retail. She joined Head Office as a secondment from store for 3 months working as a Product Book Coordinator.
During this time she spotted a new role of a Visual Merchandising Coordinator, which she successfully applied for, was recently appointed and has now been in position for a good few months. ‘Head office is a fantastic place to work. It really makes you appreciate the hard work and effort from all departments here that is put in before the products even make it into store. It has really opened my mind and has given me an insight on how much consideration goes into every small detail at Superdry. Just like in the stores, there is a real sense of family here too. I love it.'
Becky said her best bits so far were getting to see sneak peeks of collections before they land in stores and explained for her there’s nothing more fascinating than seeing designs go through such a long process and transform into the final product at the end. She said ‘Put yourself out there and be motivated! Be willing to go outside your comfort zone and work hard! Use the skills that you already have and perfect them, there has to be something that separates you from everyone else and that makes you stand out, so find that thing and let people see it!'
Eddie started with Superdry as a Christmas temp in Glasgow in 2011 and ended up becoming a permanent member of the team. After a year or so he went on to become an Area Super User in his area. This allowed Eddie to start thinking operationally in a retail environment and gave him some really great experience along the way! Eddie now works as a Retail Operations Stock Specialist. He has been in position for just over 6 months, time flies when you’re having fun!
We asked Eddie to describe his role and he told us ‘It can be a difficult role to explain but, simply put, I am the ‘stockroom guy’. I work closely with various departments to help streamline our stock control processes, layouts of stockrooms, and also take a logistical approach to the UK Retail Team.’ Eddie studied Music at HND level whilst he worked in Glasgow. It was his engagement in store that helped his manager recognise he had potential to progress in the company. His experience as a SuperUser gave him the knowledge to progress to Head Office as he played a key role in opening new stores in the UK and Europe, rolling out the Stock Management System and the new POS System.
We asked him what it's like to work at head office. He said ‘It’s a different type of ‘busy’. I was used to having goals that could be achieved in an hour; now I have some goals which I will be working towards for 6 months! The office is really friendly place to be. We get to see the strategy the business wants to achieve, which allow us to see what contributions we make to the company which is great! There are many learning and development programmes meaning that my learning and networking never stops. Nothing could have prepared me for the amount of tea that we drink here though!'
When we asked Eddie about his best moments so far this is what he said ‘For me, the opening of new stores across the UK is always a highlight. Meeting new people that have the same enthusiasm that I have for the brand makes the process very enjoyable. It feels great to be able to use my experiences to help shape some of the new store teams. As a team building trip, Retail Operations went to the Cheltenham Races for the day which was great – many laughs and a small amount of successful gambling made for a great day.’
We asked Eddie's advice to anyone else thinking of making the move to Superdry Head Office. He explained ‘I worked with massive levels of enthusiasm and a little experience and with guidance from my manager they helped me develop. Even if you don’t know which area of retail interests you, the hunger to find it is the first step. Use your reviews to take comments from your manager and build on them. Realise that however small, your efforts make a massive impact to Superdry; I remember vacuuming the Glasgow store each week, and even that task helped me get where I am today.'
When Gordon began his career with Superdry he worked at our store in Aberdeen as a Supervisor. He went to University whilst here and after graduating decided to look for his next step in life. He loved working in store and so making the move to Head Office was an opportunity to good to pass up! He joined us recently as an Allocator in the Merchandising Department. This role makes sure the stock is where it should be to increase sales and make sure stock moves around properly. There’s lots of analysis and working with data that keeps him busy!
When we asked him about life at Head Office he told us that ‘it’s a really relaxed, friendly atmosphere yet still feels focused because everyone knows what they are doing and is on a mission to get their jobs done. At first it felt a bit strange seeing Jules walk past my desk every day, but now I know it just shows the passion and drive he still has to drive the company forward – he is a very visible part of Superdry’s future.'
Gordon told us he has found it really easy to settle into life in Cheltenham and finds it a great place to live and has made many new friends. He also arrived in time to attend the Summer Extravaganza and Christmas Party (lucky man!) Gordon is often seen spending his hard earned cash in the staff shop, and is always wearing Superdry. He told us that if anyone was thinking twice about making the move from store to Head Office they should stop thinking about it and just do it – it’s worth it and you will love it!
Joe started off as a part-time sales assistant in the Cheltenham Superdry store. He loved being a part of their fantastic team. He enjoyed the interaction with customers and the great Superdry products, and liked the pressure of being the closest Store to Superdry Head Office. Joe studied Illustration at University, and whilst he recognises that was important for him, he believes showing an understanding and passion for the brand was equally valuable and contributed to him getting a role at Head Office. He had always liked the unique style of Superdry graphics, and loved that we always use hand drawn graphics as it’s a real craft to master.
Joe joined Head Office as a Trainee Branding Designer. He accepted his job a year ago, and has a great story as to how it happened. He was already at a music festival and received the call asking him to come and meet James Holder, one of our Founders and Brand & Design Director. He then hurriedly hitched a lift back to Head Office and met up with James…..shortly afterwards he got the call offering him the job and he then went back to the festival to celebrate his new role! His role in Branding literally covers all the packaging and products we make, right down to the hangtag, woven labels, silicone pulls and metal badges. Everything at Superdry is all meticulously considered millimetre by millimetre. This is one of the many product features that sets our product apart from the competition.
We asked Joe “What’s it really like at Superdry Head Office?” He told us “being at the epicentre of the Superdry story is anything but boring and you know you’ve done something right when getting up in the morning isn’t a drag. There are several things I like about Head Office; the diversity and friendliness, the pace and the passion. It’s unique and I love it here."
Joe’s best bit so far was when he, James Holder and Jamie, our Senior Branding Designer worked flat out for three weeks in one of our showrooms. It became a marathon branding session, fuelled by coffee, creativity and 90’s dance music. He has also been able to be a part of the Idris Elba product launch, everyone worked so hard to make it a success. “Those first few times I saw samples of my work were really exciting and made the hairs on my arms stand up – it was a real Superdry moment I won’t forget!”
We asked Joe's advice to others thinking of making the leap from store to Head Office and he said: "Life at Superdry Head Office won’t be your average job, it requires dedication and tenacity. Understanding the brand is paramount. Remember by coming from a Superdry shop floor you’ll bring a fresh and valuable perspective. The other day I heard someone saying ‘don’t work hard, work smart’, and that’s something to think about because here, you will need to!"
Jonny originally started with Superdry in 2009 as a part-time sales assistant at our Cardiff store. After finishing University in 2013, he moved into the role of Super User for the South West area, specialising in new store openings and store operations. Jonny studied English Literature & Language, however after his first year he decided to change degrees and studied Business & Management instead. Jonny joined Superdry Head Office on a secondment in 2014 in the IT team as Project Support, helping roll out the new till system into all UK & European stores.
We knew he was too good to let go so we offered him the role of Systems Analyst working in the same department and he is now responsible for the BTE Store system, and helps manage any changes and updates to the software. He’s now been in IT for over a year. When we asked him what it's really like at Head Office he said: ‘It’s definitely different from what I expected! Although it’s a large environment, it’s amazing how many people you see on a day to day basis. The responsibility and freedom with work is something I really enjoy, I love being in charge of my own diary, workload and having the autonomy to do the right thing in my role.’
We asked him what his best bits of the job were so far. he said: ‘When I visited the majority of our European stores while working on projects. Travelling through the whole of Germany meeting different people and teams from the business I didn’t know even existed! It really opened my eyes to the global phenomenon Superdry is fast becoming. I love being part of my team, and the wider IT team, it’s a great place to be.’
We asked him if he had any advice to others thinking of making the leap from store to Head Office, he said: ‘It’s definitely worth it. I’ve met some amazing people here in the office, and have gained experience and knowledge in subjects, business and operations which I didn’t think I ever would. The family feeling extends right across the company so its nice to feel a part of that every day.'
Lindsay was a Supervisor in our Inverness Store and she loved her time with the team in store. She received her REAL training there and went on to train new starters to her store as well. She went to The Fashion Retail Academy and gained a Level 3 Diploma in Fashion Retail, before going on to study a degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising at London College of Fashion. Lindsay moved to Head Office in January 2015 and took on the role of Womenswear Buying Admin Assistant and can’t believe where the time has gone! The old saying is true, time flies when you are having fun!
We asked her what it's really like at Superdry Head Office. She said “Every day is busy and there are never enough hours in the day! You have to be pretty organised – I’ve never written so many lists! There is a lot of time management involved because in the buying team we have to balance the desk admin and the running around looking for samples and prepping for buys and meetings. Everybody I’ve worked with so far is really driven and hardworking so it keeps you going through the busy spells and all the teams are really close which makes work more enjoyable. There is always something to look forward to in between the hard work and I’m loving being part of the Merchandising team social committee, we had a brilliant summer’s evening playing Tennis at the Team ‘Wimbledry’”.
When we asked Lindsay what the best bits so far had been, she had too many to mention! Here are a few things she told us. "Being a part of the womenswear buys over the last 8 months has been amazing. I love the Lunch & Learns that give a brilliant insight in to the other department’s roles. Merchandising Away Days are also great for understanding where we are as a team and the company overall – it really makes you proud to be a part of it all!" And finally the day she and some of her team met Idris Elba….and then spent a very long time collecting some flip flops whilst a lot of giggling and blushing occurred! Never has it taken 6 people to carry some flip flops before!
We asked Lindsay for her advice to others thinking of making the leap from store to Head Office. She said: "Moving to head office has been amazing in terms of starting in the career I studied at university, but also being able to see the product life cycles from the very beginning and the process each option goes through before it arrives in store. The Superdry attention to detail is something else! Cheltenham itself is a lovely place to live, I moved here knowing absolutely nobody and made friends really quickly, there always seems to be something going on outside of work to keep busy so don’t worry about moving here on your own! The weather alone is worth the move for us Scottish lot!
Finally, she said: "It’s a very exciting time here at head office with lots of plans in place for the near future within womenswear itself, and the brand’s International expansion; it’s a brilliant team to be a part of right now. I would say if anyone wants to make the move, definitely research the roles first so you know which area you want to get in to. There are so many different areas and always great roles advertised as the company grows, so go for it!"
Monika started working for Superdry as a Concession Manager in one of our House of Fraser concessions in Gateshead over 3 years ago, she then moved down to a new Superdry Store in the Metrocentre as Store Supervisor and was there for 10 months before making the move to Superdry Head Office. She now works as a Merchandising Administration Assistant on Womenswear taking care of Dresses, Knitwear, Pants, Shirts, Shorts, Skirts and Swimwear.
She studied Fashion at Northumbria University and specialised in Menswear Design so has been able to transfer a lot of the knowledge she learnt into the role. When we asked Monika about what its like to work at Head Office she said ‘It’s totally different to what you expect a Head Office to be like, its so laid back and everyone is so friendly across all of the departments. It was strange at first from being on your feet all day in store, to being at a desk, but you get used to it when there’s a constant flow of cups of tea!’
She told us about a great moment she had recently when she attended a Buying Meeting with the Merchandisers, the Buyers, our CEO Euan Sutherland and our Founder Product & Brand Director Julian Dunkerton. She said ‘it’s so good to be so involved in something like that, deciding on what product we want to take to stores, voicing your opinion, which everyone values, and being involved in the whole process of this product from the initial buy, to the Store ranging and the Final Sign off, it’s really interesting to see it from start to finish, and I’ll be tracking the progress of orders and deliveries too when its lands into the stores.'
We also asked her if she had any advice to anyone in store thinking about making the move to Head Office and she was really clear! It seems she’s been converted! ‘If working in Head Office is something you’re interested in then you just have to make that leap, Superdry is a company that is always evolving and want to progress their staff'.
'You really have to voice your interest to people, your managers, Area Managers, show interest at Head Office, get in touch with HR, everyone is so helpful here. Working in a store has been such a huge benefit to me in my role at Head Office, as I know products, what works well in stores, and people value your advice as you’ve seen a different aspect of the company, which many people haven’t had’. Great job Monika – welcome to the Head Office team.
Sam worked in the Superdry Bullring store which is located in the heart of Birmingham. He spent two years working for us in store as a sales and stock room assistant. He loved his time here and became a Superdry fan from the start. The job Sam moved into at Head Office is a CAD Technician in the Property and Store Development Team. He studied hard at university for 3 years to get his degree in Architectural Technology which made him the perfect candidate for the role.
As a CAD Technician Sam helps to design and plan layouts for simple things like office moves right through to designing floor plans and store layouts for stores around the world and has already got some travelling under his belt. We asked him what it’s really like at Superdry Head Office and he said:
‘It’s absolutely great! Everyone is really friendly and always willing to help each other. There is a very relaxing and calm atmosphere despite the fact everyone is working hard and fast to achieve targets and deadlines – the company is growing and changing so much right now that there’s never a dull moment and its really easy to be caught up in the buzz of being in a company in such growth – it’s a great feeling’.
Sam also told us about his proudest moment so far which was when he saw his first project develop from inception to completion when he provided the architectural drawings for the new unit we created and transformed to expand Superdry Head Office.
We asked him if he had any message for people wanting to join the Head Office team and he said ‘I recommend making the leap. Superdry is moving forward and there are a range of areas you could get into; HR, IT, Merchandising, e-commerce, Property to name just a few. I’m sure there is something for you. I’m glad I made the change and I haven’t looked back since’.
Terri originally worked as a Supervisor in the Superdry Durham Store. While she was there she was studying a BA (HONS) Fashion design at Northumbria University and once she had graduated she knew that she loved Superdry and wanted to put her education into practice. Superdry Head Office seemed like the most logical choice! She joined us a Trainee Designer in our Accessories Team and was able to apply her skills almost straightaway. It wasn’t long before she was promoted to an Assistant Designer and really started to make her mark on the Superdry collections.
We asked Terri what is what like to go from being in a store and move to Head Office, she said ‘It's a very professional, but really good fun, environment to work in. There are rarely 2 days that are the same and this industry, and Superdry work at such a fast pace it’s sometimes hard to keep your feet on the ground, but that’s why most people love it here!’
Terri told us about her proudest moments so far came she first saw some of her designs on sale inside a Superdry Store and then shortly afterwards saw them on the catwalk at London Collections Men and then featured in ELLE and Grazia….that’s a hell of a success story Terri! We asked her if she had any advice to others thinking of making the leap from store to Head Office and she said that working at Superdry isn't a 9-5 job, but if you’re truly passionate about the brand and committed to working hard then it's the right place for you, and the results and rewards make it very worthwhile.
In the UK we offer 28 days paid holiday for full time Sales Assistants and Floor Managers, and 33 days for Assistant Store Managers and Store Managers, inclusive of bank holidays.

Every full-timer in stores gets vouchers worth £350 per year (split between summer and winter) for use in store or online, to buy the Superdry clothes you wear to work. Coupled with the staff discount, this gives you £700 per year of free Superdry product. Part timers get a pro-rated amount.
We regularly offer our people the chance to join Sharesave. You save money each month from your wages and at the end of 3 years you use your savings to buy discounted Superdry shares. You can then keep them or sell them, hopefully for a profit. The best thing is, you can’t lose money, only make it!
Every employee can elect to take part of their salary in childcare vouchers. These come out of your pre-tax salary, so if you have a child that goes to a registered childcare provider, they’re a good way to save money on your childcare costs compared to paying for it out of your after-tax salary.
Bike to Work Scheme
If you want to cycle to work but don’t have a bike, you obtain one through us, with payments coming out of your pre-tax salary. As well as being able to get a new bike without having to save up or use credit, it’s a good way to save money compared to paying for it out of your after-tax salary.

The recruitment process
in a few easy steps
We use lots of different ways to assess candidates who apply for roles with us. Everyone’s journey through the recruitment process begins with an online application, but from there we will use a combination of different methods to decide on the perfect candidate for each role. We’ve outlined the key steps below, though we don’t use all of these steps for every vacancy. Which of these selection methods we use varies from role to role.
All our hires start with an online application. It’s a straightforward process, just click any of the apply links, create your account and follow the instructions.
We review all application forms and CVs carefully against the role criteria we set out in the job description, and pick the most suitable people for each role to take forward.
We usually start our head office recruitment with a short telephone interview, to understand more about your career history, achievements, capabilities and cultural fit.
We often use this for our Sales Assistant recruitment in stores. It is a group session involving interactive and creative exercises and a short sharp interview.
We invite people in to meet the recruiting manager for all head office and store management roles. It’s a great way to really get to know you and evaluate your experience and suitability.
Sometimes we use testing to understand technical competencies, management skills, numerical ability etc. This isn’t for every role, only where we need a skill that it’s hard to show at interview.
